An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on recently.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The prosecutor stated objects including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the man went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson notified the law enforcement a second time.
She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
