Fantastic $30 Map-Making Humble Bundle Is a Virtual Tabletop GM's Dream

Following a brief run earlier this year, the Map Making Mega Bundle has returned with an encore available through early December. Described as a "treasure trove of assets and apps" developed by ProFantasy Software over the years, the entire collection carries a value of over $1,300. Additionally, there exist three different bundles available here.

Primary Feature

The big draw is definitely a lifetime license to the CC3+ software, a professional-grade cartography program that can be used to generate various types including fantasy overworld maps, smaller regional maps, city maps, and, perhaps most importantly, tactical combat environments.

Package Levels

Basic Package

The cheapest bundle tier, at a minimum cost of $1, features merely four from the thirty-nine available products: Symbol Set 1: Fantasy Overland, Token Treasury: Monsters 1, Source Maps: Castles!, Urban Source Maps. This package suits existing CC3+ users, but it does offer new fantasy symbol styles for landscape mapping, over seven hundred fifty creature tokens compatible with online gaming platforms, more than two dozen top-down castle layouts including hundreds of map markers, eight fully mapped cities, plus seventy-plus building interiors.

Intermediate Package

The eight-item bundle starting at fifteen dollars is where things get more interesting through inclusion of permanent CC3+ access, the first Annual volume, Ultimate Mapping Guidebook, and Symbol Set 6: Isometric Cities. The Annual represents the yearly bundle from the company's long-running monthly subscription service featuring a variety CC3+ add-ons like map collections and various other tools. Isometric Cities lets you present urban areas in 3D perspective using angled views from multiple angles. And the Tome of Ultimate Mapping is a 760-page for beginners and "power users" alike, packed with guidance and instructions for the map-making process.

All 17 volumes from the Annual series are included here, plus numerous other resource and asset packs enabling creators to craft complete solar systems, or focus exclusively on classic fantasy realm creation: battle maps, underground complexes, cities, and continents from almost any perspective. You can even design character illustrations. For $30 as opposed to $15, the full bundle offers tremendous value, particularly for mappers who have only the annual CC3+ license seeking permanent licensing. But it's obviously an even better deal for cartography beginners since it includes the beginners' tutorials to help you get started. The one caveat here is that while the purchase is available across platforms, the software is only usable on Windows.

As with other Humble Bundles, a portion of each sale supports charitable organizations. In this instance, the beneficiary is Save the Children, established in 1919 by Eglantyne Jebb focused on improving the lives of children worldwide via educational programs, medical services, and crisis response.
