Discover 29 Fresh Cards from Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set (Including a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)
The world's favorite pizza-loving heroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The popular trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel hosted at NYCC. Could this be a radical addition or yet another crossover cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Take a look below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with key context. Everything listed here releases on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle arrives a few weeks later on March 27th.
MTG x TMNT: Core Set Cards
Before diving into all the various special decks and bundles on offer, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per pack.
Let's unpack a few surprising details. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak Attack, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu, where players can cheat powerful creatures into the game field whenever an attacking creature goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that Sneak can affect spells that aren’t creatures too. Wizards also took the opportunity to clean up the ability a little (It counts as playing a spell, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability isn't going away, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever go back to Kamigawa, we might use the original ability since that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior designer stated. “But on other planes, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak is what's going to be in standard, it’s probable we’ll use Sneak.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is among four special cards with special art created exclusively for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.
Oh, and, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards outside of your deck, many players were. But according to the developers, it’s now a official card in all formats of Magic.
Anyway, here are the highly unusual land cards with full art from this set:
As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers state they were careful to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for 15 months and we were aware it was going to be Standard-legal and which sets would be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”
For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard deck,” he added.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
After declining to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it does come with six different legendary cards who could work as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five of the cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command area instead of only one). Take a look for yourself:
This Commander precon is set at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders pictured above. (Calculating roughly, that also means approximately 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 lands.)
How will the Turtles version of Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.
TMNT Bundle (Regular)
Typically, the company is offering a collection. This one costs $69.99 and contains the listed items:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Foil land cards
- Fifteen Regular basic lands
- Two helper cards
- 1 Traditional foil promotional card
- One Oversized spindown life counter
- One Card-storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and includes the items below:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- 1 Premium Booster
- 25 Regular pizza-themed lands
- 5 Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
- 2 Traditional foil pizza bundle promotional cards
- 2 Reference cards
- One Oversized life tracker
- One Card-storage box
For those curious about the “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with all-new Turtle-themed art. Wizards showed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter sprinkling toppings onto a pizza slice. In total, there are six different pizza promos available.
The Pizza Bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is made for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
- 12 Play Boosters (ideal for a group of four to play draft)
- One Premium Booster (aka, the reward for winning)
- 90 Regular basic lands (to build your deck)
- Ten Regular token cards
- 1 Draft insert (a single-page instruction sheet to drafting the set)
Turtle Team-Up
Finally, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products specifically for new players. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that allow two players team up against a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The general idea here that every Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
