According to a recent study, almost one in five young adults in the UK are turning to artificial intelligence to design their getaways.

Age-Based Divide in Technology Usage

While traditional pre-arranged vacations continue to be the most popular option, data shows that about one-fifth of young adults rely on smart assistants like virtual planners for trip ideas.

Conversely, less than 3% of older adults mention AI as a method for holiday ideas.

Post-Covid Holiday Rebound

Data shared at a latest industry event highlighted that the number of UK residents taking a holiday recently has practically matched pre-Covid rates.

An ever higher percentage of people mentioned a break as the top non-essential purchase, prioritized over leisure, electronics, and other entertainment, including during economic uncertainty.

AI Adoption Increases

Research conducted in July showed that twice as many respondents are utilizing AI for travel arrangements than the previous year.

Now, a small but growing share of participants said they use AI for inspiration, rising from a smaller percentage in earlier research.

Younger Holidaymakers and Wellbeing

Environmental Commitments

Young travellers were also more inclined to choose a brand, lodging, or place based on its eco-friendly policies.

Roughly one in five of millennials valued sustainability, versus 10% across all age groups.

Scepticism Regarding Eco-Friendly Claims

Some experts expressed reservations about these assertions.

People wants to be more eco-friendly – yet if it’s more expensive, they usually think twice about it.

Nevertheless, the same expert added that young travellers "seem to be significantly more responsible and mindful of wellbeing than when I was young".

Discussion Over Travel in Spain

Latest efforts by Spain's tourist board to alter the type of travellers have resulted in criticism.

The country is aiming to support longer stays and leisurely journeys through a recently launched advertising campaign.

The focus is changing away from standard coastal vacations.

Ultimately their message, the goal is a different type of visitor – they basically want rich people.

The expert stated that if a condition for going on holiday is wealth, that is "totally unfair".

Demands for Oversight in Travel Industry

The challenges with overtourism in Spain and elsewhere were blamed on "unlicensed tourism" rather than established brands.

Experts highlighted appeals for governments to clamp down on cases where property managers lack a required authorization, health and safety certificate, or proper tax records.

Should hosts are found to be without the proper documentation and official paperwork, you get fined. Failure to comply leads to legal consequences. The entire unauthorized accommodations will disappear overnight.

The message was evident: Owners should take individual responsibility, become licensed, and get it done.
